Market Vision

A place where you can come in order to buy good quality, fresh produce. As well, it is a place where you can catch up with friends and have a social morning out in a relaxed, fun environment. The market is a community owned event run by a committee and is based on not-for-profit principles. Therefore, any money raised will eventually find its way back into the community.

The First Farmers Market

Welcome to the first entry for the Finley Farmers’ Market. It is dedicated to the many members of our community who attended the first market in September and made it the success that it was.

After many months of planning and hard work the Finley Farmers’ Market  was up and running. The turnout was nothing short of incredible. We even had visitors from as far away as Tasmania and Brisbane. Some came out of curiosity, some to catch up with friends but most came to shop.

After speeches from Jane Harris and Denise Watts, the Mayor John Bruce officially opened the market. The lucky “gate” prize was then drawn and won by Denise Moore. Jill Russell from Daisy Maes created an impressive basket of goodies for Denise to take home. Then, at 10am many wandered over  the road to bid for a bargain at the Men’s Shed auction.

Throughout the morning Town Cryer, Judy Campbell, made sure that everyone knew what was happening and our hardworking catering crew made sure that no-one went away hungry. With the beautiful and calm backdrop of the lake and to the sound of Catherine McNamara and Toody Braybon singing, patrons of the market shopped, chatted, laughed and relaxed. Many stallholders commented on the friendliness of the people here in Finley.

What did the Finley community think about its first farmers' market?

Can't wait for the next one!
